December 7, 2021 was a day that changed our lives.

It was the day I read my sister's pathology report.

Two words: pancreatic adenocarcinoma. And our entire world experienced a seismic shift.

For the past 2 years (29 months and counting) my sister, Catharine King, has been receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Surgical resection (robotic whipple procedure), intensive chemotherapy for 6 months and considered cancer free in August 2022, only to have a recurrence a few months later.  Multiple surgeries, ICU/hospital stays, ER visits, countless scans, labs, doctor visits, and ongoing intensive chemotherapy sessions, and she keeps on, keeping on.

I've been by her side every step of the way and will continue to be - now, forever, and always.  My sister is fierce, determined, and a survivor, and I will continue to do everything in my power to keep her enjoying and living life.

I’ve been Team Captain for TEAM CAT (CatKingCrusaders) since 2021. We’re striding again this year in order to raise money for research, patients, families, and to inspire hope.

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
