United 2 Honor was formed in advance of PurplesStride 2023, to honor the beautiful lives of Rita Miller and Janice Panis, who passed away of pancreatic cancer in 2012 and 2022, respectively.  The Miller and Panis families are united through the marriage of Rita and Dan Miller's son, Kris, and Tom and Janice Panis's daughter, Christina. 

"Team Momma Miller" has been a steady Passion Team or Top 10 Team since 2012, celebrating Rita's life since her passing just weeks before the 2012 PurpleStride in Kansas City. 

"One Strong Mom" joined PurpleStride in 2021 to fight alongside their beautiful and spirited mom, Janice. Given her recent passing in 2022, they were poised to honor her memory for the first time in 2023. 

The two teams decided the best way to honor the extraordinary lives of their beloved wives, mothers, grandmothers, and sisters was to unite the two teams in solidarity, focused on the common goal of ending the devastation of a pancreatic cancer diagnosis and subsequent battle for good.

Through the efforts of PANCAN, progress is being made. When Rita passed away in 2012, the 5-year survival rate of pancreatic cancer was less than 4%, and today it stands at 12%! Despite the progress, more must be done. With your help, we can and will keep other families from experiencing the devastating loss of their loved ones.
