Melissa was remarkably upbeat and energetic.  She would buzz around town like a hummingbird, her nectar; coffee! :)

Melissa Law was a fun, full of adventure, energetic to no end, hardworking, dedicated, and friendly woman. She somehow managed to become lifelong friends with people during the briefest of interactions. She was kind, caring, supportive, and a true beauty inside and out. As a wife, she was married to the end, thirty-one years. As a mother of two children, she always managed to play an active role in each one’s lives. These traits extended to her professional life as guidelines that she used to work her way up. She remained with the same company for thirty years where she was friends with literally anyone who encountered her. She was the epitome of a good person and it seemed to come naturally to her. This is how she should be remembered.

Melissa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on December 23, 2012 and died April 5, 2013, just three months after her diagnosis. It’s estimated that she actually had cancer for eight years before being diagnosed. It’s this latency of the disease prior to diagnosis that’s a very important factor for the survival of future victims. If for nothing else, donate to help researchers determine earlier detection methods to identify this disease earlier in its development.

Please join this campaign against pancreatic cancer in the following ways:

1) Join our team and register to participate in the Portland Purple Stride Event by clicking on the "Join Team" link on this page. This gives you the opportunity to register, donate, and participate in Portland Purple Stride events.

2) If your physical presence at the events is not possible, but you still want to provide a donation, click on the "Donate Now" link on this page, which is located underneath the “Join Team” link.

Thank you for supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. We appreciate the time that you took to read this and any contributions made to the overall cause.

Sincerely,

Melissa's Hummingbirds
