This is the 10th year I have raised money to support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network for Portland's PurpleStride.  This year the walk is being held on Saturday April 27, 2024 at the Portland International Raceway.  There is no fee to join the walk this year!  We are simply encouraging people to donate any amount in the hopes to fight pancreatic cancer.  If you donate $50, you will receive a Purple Stride tee shirt!  So if you cannot come and walk with Madeline and me in memory of Doug, I would love for you to consider donating to our team to help out the PanCan efforts to save lives for those struck with this terrible disease.  

The walk will be along a nature trail next to the Raceway. The time of events are:  

9am - Gates Open

10:30am - Presentation Begins

11am - Walk Commences

1pm - Event Concludes

Many of you know my husband Doug died of a fairly rare neuroendocrine carcinoma of the pancreas that had spread to his liver. He was not aware he had it until it was too late.  You may know many of the people who have also succumbed to this disease, namely John Lewis, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Alex Trebeck, Dith Prahn and Steve Jobs.  As you know, pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest, but due to fundraising efforts, survival rates have increased to 12% after five years!  Research is being done on all types of pancreatic cancers across the US, and they are close to having a test to indicate the cancer in the early stages.  I am hoping for early detection so patients can get the treatment they need to live a long life with their family and friends. 

By making a donation to our team, Remembering Doug, you are supporting efforts to double survival for this deadly disease by 2030 and memorializing the impact Doug, and many other of our friends and coworkers, had on those of us who knew them. I would love to have you join me at the Purple Stride on Saturday April 27!  And if I don't see you, donating any amount, no matter how small, makes an impact.
