Team Tejidor was initially organized in memory of Maria Elena Tejidor, who passed away in 2007 of pancreatic cancer.  In 2012, Andres committed himself to becoming the Affiliate Chair of the Miami affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and lead local volunteer efforts over the next decade. In 2014, Candace became the Volunteer Chair for the local affiliate.  Carolina often helps with the PurpleStride, and Leon attends every year.

Team Tejidor now strides in honor of Leon Tejidor, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October 2023 and underwent the intense Whipple procedure in November 2023. Leon, a long-time supporter of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, continues his battle to overcome this deadly disease.
