Did you know that the five year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is only 13%?

My mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on July 5th, 2023 and passed away on August 28th, 2023 almost a month after her 65th birthday. A few things to note about my mom - this wasn't her first rodeo. She survived breast cancer almost 20 years ago at the young age of 46 so she's always been a fighter. She retired a few years ago and picked up photography. Sending pictures that she took to my brother and I of sunrises, sunsets, flowers, birds and the beach was one of her favorite things. Right as my dad was retiring and my parents were making the move to their favorite place at the beach is when she was hit with this diagnosis. Seeing the joy taken away from a life dream was devastating and I have made it a goal of mine to raise awareness of the disease. If I can help one family prevent what we went through last summer by raising more awareness, encouraging preventative screenings, and knowing your family history, I know I've done my job.

I'm inviting anyone and everyone that wants to join my family and I to walk on April 27th to sign up! Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
