Welcome to Our PanCAN PurpleStride Team Fundraising Page!

Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!

Here is my story (JJ)

I AM RESILIENT

I CAN BEAT THIS

I WILL STAY POSITIVE

2023 was a challenging year but we will remember the positives

We lost our 24 year old son after him and his brother were hit by a drunk driver doing 110 mpg.  After a three month battle he passed away peacefully at our home on 02/23/2023.  Fly high and soar with the Eagles my Baby Bird.

November 9, 2023 was my GI follow up appointment for my EGD Ultrasound, but on November 8,2023 we received the call “can you come in today”.   Never a good thing to get called in earlier.   My results from the biopsy came back suspicious for malignancy.   November 14,2023 PET Scan and surgical consult.   December 1, 2023 Distal Pancreatectomy and Splenectomy.  I have been a Registered Nurse for 35 years and a quite a fighter (some may even say a witch). December 2,2023 I was discharged home and my family and friends helped with my recovery.  Intravenous Port Access placed today.   Chemotherapy starts February 1, 2024.

STAGE 1 Pancreatic Cancer

We met with the  genetic counselor on January 16,2024 and found out there is now screening for people at high risk for pancreatic cancer.   They can do an MRCP which is an MRI of the pancreas.   June 10, 2023 probably the day that saved my life. I was at work and found out I had pancreatitis again for the second time and had no reason to WHY!!!   Katey Garnett and Bryce Shedlock told me I needed an MRCP!!!!❤  I can not thank them enough.   Please know your body and be an advocate for yourself, family and friends

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Here’s where you come in!

We’ve set an ambitious fundraising goal – because the more money we raise, the bigger impact we make – and would be profoundly grateful for your donation. A gift of any size will help patients and families facing a pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
