Scott's Buddies has a mission to raise awareness to pancreatic cancer, in hopes that one less family will be shaken due to a diagnosis. On March 5th, 2013, my dad, Scott Kiefer, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Upon biopsy, he was given a grim prognosis of 4-6 months to live. He was only 51 years young. My dad did not take that prognosis to heart, though. He fought for 16 months and when I say fought- he battled. Unfortunately, his battle came to a close on July 17th, 2014 when he passed away. My family often refers to this period in our lives as a reference point- "before dad was sick" or "after dad passed away". We continue to walk and raise this awareness so that less families will carry this same reference point with them. We walk for our Hero.
