On April 14, 2023 our family was shaken to it's core by the news that Trae had Pancreatic Cancer and it had metastisized to his liver and other organs. He began chemotherapy "folfirinox" in May and had a very hard  time with the treatment because he had lost so much weight and muscle mass. On August 14, 2023, Trae passed peacefully in our home. 

It is possible that Trae could have been with us for a longer time or even perhaps beaten this horrible cancer. On December 14, 2022, he had an endoscopic ultrasound and biopsy of a pancreatic mass that had developed on the tail of his pancreas. That biopsy missed the cancer that was growing there. Through additional research, this sneaky killer could be caught earlier and give people diagnosed with it a fighting chance. 

Team Trae's Wings wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

This is a national event, however Trae's Wings will be walking at the Richmond Event that will be held at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, VA. PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
