Welcome to Our PanCAN PurpleStride " Team Janet "Fundraising Page!

Hey, there!

My team and I are taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at PanCAN PurpleStride on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in Kansas City.

We want to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need your help to do that!

Please help me make an impact on a cure for pancreatic cancer. Any donation amount will help make an impact on finding a cure.

Cancer is a heavy weight to bear, but we can help to lighten the load for not only myself but for our friends, families if we all lift together to help to find a cure for Pancreatic Cancer.

Many people rally around their friends with cancer as they're facing treatments, but assume their support is no longer needed when treatments are over. Your friend might now be battling side effects, follow-up scans and appointments, and/or depression. Don't let them think they've been forgotten! They may even need your support more now, since many of their other friends have likely moved on.

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. For all stages combined, the 5-year relative survival rate is 13%. For the small percentage (15%) of people diagnosed with local disease, the 5-year survival rate is only 44%.

More than 92% of cases are pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC), that develops in the exocrine tissue of the pancreas, which makes digestive enzymes. Treatment options for pancreatic cancer: Surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy are treatment options that extend survival or relieve symptoms, but seldom produce a cure. Surgical removal of the tumor is possible in less than 20% of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer because detection is often in late stages and has spread beyond the pancreas. Adjuvant treatment with chemotherapy (and sometimes radiation) may lower the risk of recurrence. For advanced diseases, chemotherapy (sometimes along with a targeted drug therapy) may lengthen survival. Clinical trials are testing several new agents for their ability to improve survival.

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers. It is currently the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States after lung and colon and expected to become the 2nd by Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of all major cancers.

Please help me make an impact on a cure for pancreatic cancer and thank you for your support. Patients and families need us now more than ever.
