Love, Lindsay

    My sister was my best friend, my go to for all dumb questions, we talked/texted multiple times a day, but she was also a wife, daughter, mother, aunt, friend and family to so many. These past months have been incredibly difficult in dealing with the loss of my sister, and I’m sure difficult for many. Lindsay courageously battled pancreatic cancer for 9 months while smiling, laughing and being spicy along the way.  Lindsay was surrounded by friends, co-workers and family during the entire time. So much love and support came from so many people, just showing us how many lives, Lindsay had touched. Because of all the love and support, this year’s pancreatic cancer walk team name is Love, Lindsay for Chicago and Michigan. This is Lindsay’s thank you to everyone who showed up for her in numerous ways; buddies for chemo, helping with the girls, sending meals, providing emotional and mental support and helping with the move to a new home just to name a few. I don’t need to go into much detail because you all know what you did and how that can never be repaid.

    As difficult as this is to face, I keep thinking of the bigger picture and how we need to continue supporting Pancan (Pancreatic cancer action network). Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer is very aggressive and survival rates are low (13% for 5-year survival) but by supporting Pancan this WILL CHANGE. Pancan’s vision is creating a world where all pancreatic cancer patients can/will thrive. Supporting Pancan helps to advance scientific research, patient services, clinical trials, advocate for patients, early detection and sharing the latest knowledge.  During our journey with pancreatic cancer Pancan was a phenomenal resource that I personally used to help with Lindsay’s battle. Pancan also supports patients’ families, so they don’t have to navigate on their own and I could not be more thankful for their support. So, it is important to my family and I that we continue this support to help beat this horrible disease. With your support we can help the survival rates increase and that is the main goal in donating. No one fights alone so let’s continue to support a great cause and beat this terrible disease.
