Welcome to Our PanCAN PurpleStride Team Fundraising Page!

Hey, there!

My team and I are taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at PanCAN PurpleStride on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

This year we are walking for Sarah and Jim. Two people who have raised some of the greatest women and my closest friends. Here’s a little bit about both of those amazing people:

Jim was an educator in the Elkhorn Area School District for over 30 years where he dedicated his career to teaching health and physical education. Jim also spent many years coaching the high school football and wrestling teams. He recently retired and has since enjoyed the extra time to spend outdoors, become quite the talented cook (& bloodymary master), and enjoys lots of quality time with his family. Jim has raised three intelligent, beautiful daughters, with a humor they could’ve only gotten from their dad. In October of 2022, Jim received the inconceivable diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He has not faltered in his ability to remain positive and continue to put others before himself. Jim is the type of man that doesn’t want to be a burden or dwell on his diagnosis, but instead remains appreciative of all the little things in life. Jim has always had an altruistic nature to him, but now it’s time to share our support as he navigates this health journey.

Mama Greene, or Sarah, to most of you, has worked for the Walworth County Department of Health and Human Services for almost 30 years. During that time, she has worked closely with infant mental and physical health. She has dedicated her life to helping families find the resources they need to build happy, healthy families–like she has herself. Along with all of the hard work she has put into her career, she has also managed to raise three beautiful, smart, kind-hearted children. Sarah was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November of 2019, and battled it like the ba**** she is. In November of 2022, she received the devastating news that the cancer had returned, and has continued to fight endlessly, despite its difficulties. Sarah, however, has not let these challenging years stop her zest for life. She continues to enjoy gardening, walking her dog, playing board games, and doing puzzles (not to mention her love of sitting on the porch with a glass of wine and a good book in hand). Sarah is a selfless soul who has countlessly put others before herself. She deserves any kind of encouraging words and good vibes that you may send.

The chance of two people from the same town, with children who are friends, battling the same type of rare cancer has been difficult to comprehend. I often wonder why the worst things happen to the greatest people; however, I choose to trust in their undeniable willingness to fight, in the medical experts’ care, and in the big man upstairs (or whatever juju you may believe in).

Here’s to you Jim and Sarah! You are warriors!
