Welcome to Our PanCAN PurpleStride Team Fundraising Page - the PanCranos team!
As many of you know, less than 2 years ago I had a Whipple surgery at MassGeneral. I was extremely lucky that the pancreatic duct growth was not cancerous. It was one hell of a recovery (my family and close friends will attest to that!), and I will need yearly CT scans and surgeon visits due to the heightened risk for future pancreatic cancer. I am very optimistic - and convinced this surgery saved my life.
For the 2nd year in a row I will be participating in the PanCAN PurpleStride on Saturday, April 27. Emma will be walking with me! We do this as a thank you to my surgical team, to support research for early detection, and in honor and memory of my cousin Susan, my grandfather Tom, and his mother Nan - all of whom had this disease.
PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more. PanCan gets a 4 stars out of 4 from Charity Navigator.
Thank you for visiting our page. The main reason I am doing this walk is to raise awareness of pan cancer - and the tumors that may become cancerous if left untreated. Also, it is incredibly important to advocate for ourselves. My doc told me I had IBS; I had to insist that I have a CT scan. Fundraising is secondary, but if you care to donate, thank you!
Much love,
Caroline
