My mom, Brenda, passed on September 9, 2021 at the age of 63, from pancreatic cancer. It was the most devastating thing that has ever happened to our family. Unfortunately, by the time they discovered cancer and then determined that it was pancreatic cancer it was too late. This is all too familiar and common with this type of disease. She hadn’t been feeling unwell for that long. From the time we had the final diagnosis until she passed we only had 5 weeks with her.

I am walking the PurpleStride with my daughter, brother and father to honor my mother and raise awareness and funds to help with research and programs for families that are also devastatingly affected by this terrible, aggressive and deadly disease. I hope someday we are able to have an early detection method so nobody has to go through what we did.
