My brilliant and beautiful wife, Danielle, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July of 2023. Since then, she has inspired and motivated many (starting with me) with strength, a love-based outlook, determination, discipline, and faith. 

In 2020, in the months between our engagement and our wedding, Danielle’s dad, Gary Nichols was diagnosed with and valiantly fought pancreatic cancer.  Danielle was by his (and stepmom Charlotte’s) side with the trademark love, strength, brilliance and determination. 

Danielle did all the “right” things…BRCA screening, took care of herself and her metabolic health, stayed fit and trim, annual screenings following BRCA identification, etc. All good steps, but that pesky cancer found a toehold. 

Unfortunately, the funnel is very narrow for pancreatic cancer….not a lot of data.  There is MUCH to be done:

• Guidelines for detection need further development
• Screening tests must be developed and accessible 
• Physicians must be educated as to risk factors associated with BRCA 
• Effective treatment options are needed
• Support and education tools to wrap around patients must be readily available 

Danielle is FIGHTING and WINNING!!! Together, we have locked arms, pulled on some cancer kickin boots, and vowed that we will advance the cause. We are confident that with support from kindhearted and likeminded folks like you we will see this cancer cured!!!  Importantly, while that cure is being developed, we will see patients wrapped in support with readily available and robust knowledge-based navigation.   

And….while we’re kickin this cancer’s ass, we will have some fun!!!

I’m taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
