In honor of my dearest and most treasured friend, Patty, I am participating again in this year's Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's (PanCAN's) PurpleStride Walk, this time in Washington, DC, on Saturday, 27 April.
I've come to realize that celebrating Patty's life and her beautiful gift of love and friendship to us all, as well as being involved in this very moving and important fundraiser, helps with the healing process by turning grief in to action.
As Patty stated so eloquently in her Remembrance Message, she welcomed others supporting a "cause of your heart." I personally can not think of any better cause than furthering PanCAN's efforts to raise awareness, provide invaluable assistance to others who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and FINALLY BRING AN END to this devastating disease once and for all.
I will be sure to share some photos of what is a very touching and meaningful gathering. I remember last year when one of the survivors hugged many of us who were walking as her way of thanking us for taking the time to participate. It was a moment that I will never forget and I truly could feel Patty's presence there with us that day.
I will be carrying Patty with me in my heart again during the walk this year, just as I do each and every day.
So if you also consider this a "cause of your heart".................
