Five years ago this February, our family's entire world was turned upside down. Our Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer which had metastasized to his liver. Our father was 77 years young. He was incredibly active including involvement with the local fire company & county hazmat team. He was a retired Navy Chief who proudly served his country for 27 years. He played drums and marched with a bagpipe band.  In his sixties, he decided to take accordion & guitar lessons so he could play his beloved Irish tunes. He enjoyed an ice cold Guinness.  Dad put up a valiant fight, but pancreatic cancer won this battle, and Dad passed away only 3.5 months after diagnosis. We miss him every minute of every day, and don't want any other families to experience the same loss.    

Pancreatic cancer does not stop or slow down. The pancreatic cancer survival rate is one of the lowest of common cancers. As a result, pancreatic cancer is one of the most feared diagnoses. Most people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer are no longer alive five years after diagnosis. For all stages of pancreatic cancer, the one-year relative survival is 28.8% and the five-year rate is 7.9%.
