Hi Friends,

In February 2018 you may know that my husband, Brian Luyt, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He went from feeling fine and enjoying a great game of golf on Friday to experiencing terrible pain Sunday evening.  At the ER, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. 

PanCAN was the number one resource we turned to for information and guidance.  Brian participated in a new treatment study with the hope that if it couldn't help him, doctors could learn from his experience and be able to better help others who would be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Brian died in September 2018. That November our family participated in our first PanCAN Purple Stride. It was therapeutic for us, but as importantly it was our way to give back to the organization which had been there for us at the worst of times.

PanCAN PurpleStride is the number one way PanCAN raises money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients, and gives them free, personalized one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services. For us this was so important. Where does one begin when faced with a devastating diagnosis. PanCAN Patient Services was unbelievably great in providing information and support.

We’ve set an ambitious fundraising goal – because the more money we raise, the bigger impact we make. We want everyone who is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer to have hope and to have an organization to turn to which can give them that hope.
