In July of 2019, the Brucato family received news that kicked our competitive nature into high gear. Phil was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Today, we are fortunate to be celebrating the FIVE year anniversary of his diagnosis, while seeing him truly living his life to the fullest. 

Phil has handled this diagnosis and the many chemotherapy appointments, surgeries and medications with great strength, a positive attitude and of course a healthy dose of humor. The journey hasn't been without struggle, but as we reflect back on this incredible milestone, we remain humbly grateful for not only Phil's perseverance to power through, but also the unwavering dedication and commitment of Phil's wife, Cheryl, for all that she has done to make this possible. 

We take nothing for granted, and admire Phil’s push to meet and inspire others as they too battle pancreatic cancer and other forms of life debilitating illnesses. Please join us as we walk for him and the many other warriors impacted by this horrific disease…”no sleep till a cure”!

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
