Welcome to our team fundraising page!

Team Babak & Jim is named after Babak Soleimanifar and Jim Edwards.

Jim passed away from pancreatic cancer on February 12, 2015.  Jim's family created Team Big Jim shortly thereafter to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) and have taken part in PurpleStride Washington DC every year since.

Just a little over four years later, the disease struck Jim's extended family when pancreatic cancer claimed Babak on July 10, 2019.  Babak is the father-in-law of Jim's nephew.  Babak's family created Team Babak which originally took part in PurpleStride Maryland but in recent years has participated in PurpleStride Washington, DC as part of Team Big Jim.

About PanCAN PurpleStride

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN's signature community celebration, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
