I
Last year I share with you my story, this year I want to share with you the blessings that I have received from having Pancreatic Cancer. In one of the devotions from Dr. Stanley, he focused on how we should response when going through trials.
“Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials”. What a preposterous statement! Do you know anyone who thinks joy and trials fit together? But James is presenting God’s perspective—not a human one. Suffering has some surprising benefits that aren’t readily apparent to most people.
It’s important to realize James is not telling us to be happy in our pain but rather to rejoice in the blessings that accompany suffering. The word consider means “to regard.” When we look at hardships from God’s perspective, we can rejoice in the beneficial outcome, even while experiencing pain.
I didn’t completely understand what James was saying until after I completed my treatments and the Lord open opportunities for me to share my story with individuals who were been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. There were comfortable in sharing their concerns, because they knew I had gone through what they were about to experience. I was able to share with them the three F’s that help me get through the process
My Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
My Family
My Friends
Going through the treatments for Pancreatic Cancer was tough, but nothing compared to the blessings I receive by being able to help others.
Here is where I need your help. Because I have been blessed, I want to bless others, I have set a goal to raise $5000.00 for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network Foundation. Their mission is to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer by advancing scientific research, building community, sharing knowledge, advocating for patients, and increase the survival rate, currently it is only 12%.
