Welcome to the “Sharon’s Striders” PanCAN PurpleStride Team Fundraising Page!
Why we walk:
Our family became all too familiar with the reality of this devastating disease when our beloved mother, grandmother, wife and best friend, Sharon, was diagnosed in 2023, at the age of 77. An abdominal scan showed a mass on Sharon’s pancreas on July 11, 2023 and the following 2 weeks took our family on a heartbreaking journey through doctors appointments, frantic travel arrangements, round the clock care, and ultimately the heartbreaking loss of someone we loved most in this world.
Sharon, not surprisingly to anyone that knew her, showed nothing but strength and courage and faith as she lived out her final days on this earth. For our family, the diagnosis came too late for treatment. The world stopped spinning for those 2 weeks, and we continue to grieve her loss to this day. We walk to raise money for research and for preventative screening so that others might have a chance to fight and win the battle with pancreatic cancer.
We walk to honor Sharon’s memory and to give hope to others facing pancreatic cancer.
Why we need YOUR support:
Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients and their families. The funds we raise help those affected by pancreatic cancer by:
- Offering free, personalized support and resources through PanCAN Patient Services.
- Providing molecular testing and personalized treatment recommendations at no cost through PanCAN’s Know Your Tumor®.
- Supporting PanCAN’s research priorities of finding early detection methods and new treatments.
- Creating hope — because a five-year survival rate of 13% is just not acceptable.
Let’s show everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer that we’re fighting for them – thank you for your support!
