Marlena was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November 2024 and it rapidly spread to her liver. She succumbed to cancer in February, 2025 but it did not define her. She was totally brave and accepted her fate with no regrets and was very grateful for her life’s journey, family and friends, with many adventures along the way.

Marlena did have adventures, too many to list but she was ahead of her time on the forefront for women in the several workplaces and even built her own home. Marlena was an avid nature enthusiast, loved animals, provided a good home for many pets, she mostly enjoyed hiking, kayaking and sunshine.

Marlena was a young 73 year old woman taken too soon which is why we need to find early detection screenings. She also loved all kinds of birds, especially eagles; we all hope and pray she is soaring with eagles.

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
