Welcome to Our PanCAN PurpleStride- Fighting with Farney - Fundraising Page!
My Dad, Farney, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in October of 2024. The life changing news came with no warning. We’re grateful that Dad is part of the less than 20% of patients that are diagnosed early enough to be eligible for surgical resection. We’re 1/2 way through the initial chemo cycles to shrink the tumor, already down 11%! Next step is Whipple (which should be around the time of PurpleStride 2025). Chemo has been tough, as is the disease process. My Dad is a fighter and we are believing he will be in the 13% that survive this ugly disease beyond 5 years!
Farney dedicated 40 years of his life fighting for and protecting the lives of others. A few of his roles included fire chief, patrol deputy, criminal investigations division, undercover narcotics, intelligence, joint aviation, and intelligence. How can we give back to a man that gave selflessly to so many? That’s why you’re seeing this page. I want help him, and others like him, fight! I want to make a difference.
Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!
We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
Here’s where you come in!
We’ve set an ambitious fundraising goal of $10,000– because the more money we raise, the bigger impact we make – and would be profoundly grateful for your donation. A gift of any size will help patients and families facing a pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

A world where everyone affected by pancreatic cancer will thrive starts with YOU – thank you for your support!
A note from Farney himself:
"After being diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer, I have realized the gravity of things. Knowing others have chosen to fight it, so did I. It could be done alone, but the road is easier with the support of so many. To each and everyone of you let me say thank you and together if not today, possibly in the near future, research will find a cure. You all should take pride in knowing you’re helping find a cure."
