This walk is deeply personal to me. In 2020, I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. Watching him suffer and ultimately losing him was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. Pancreatic cancer disproportionately affects African Americans and is often detected in its late stages, leaving too many families with limited options and little time. That’s why I’m walking—to honor my dad’s memory and to help make a difference for others facing this disease.

My dad was an incredible man. He immigrated to the U.S. from Guinea with nothing, built a life for his family, and raised four children, ensuring we all had the opportunity for a college education and successful careers. He was the kindest soul, always willing to help others, and believed that “every day is my birthday as long as I’m alive and have $10 in my pocket.” His strength, generosity, and unwavering love inspire me every day.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, I’ll be walking in his honor at PanCAN PurpleStride, and I’d love for you to join me. This event raises crucial funds for research, patient support, and advocacy—things that can bring hope to families like mine.
