Welcome to Team JxnJack's Fundraising Page!

On Saturday, April 26, our family will participate in PurpleStride Boston 2025.  This year's event is especially poignant for us as November 7 will be the 10th anniversary of Jack’s death.

Jack’s Story:

Jack Jackson, our husband/father, was diagnosed in October 2012 with Stage IV metastatic pancreatic cancer, and given 6 months to live.  With fierce determination, incredible optimism, an amazing medical team, and a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, and experimental cyberknife radiation funded by such organizations as PanCAN, Jack surmounted all odds and survived 3 years before finally succumbing to the disease in Nov. 2015.  Our family was so thankful for the extra time we had together.  But we knew then and see even more clearly now that much more can be done to help those diagnosed live much longer, healthier lives.

Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd-leading cause of U.S. cancer-related deaths, with a devastating prognosis that’s barely changed in almost 50 years: the 5-year survival rate for those diagnosed with metastatic disease, like Jack, remains at just 1%.  And yet, pancreatic cancer receives only a fraction of overall cancer research funding.

So, we’ll walk on April 26 to honor Jack’s memory, and also the memory of my beloved grandmother Edith Goldman, of Rebecca Lee, and of so many others who’ve died of this insidious disease.  And we’ll walk so PanCAN can keep funding critical research and clinical trials, providing valuable support resources for patients and families, and continuing its strong advocacy for increased local and federal funding.

Thank you so much in advance for your generous support of our PurpleStride walk!  And if you're local, we'd love to have you join our family on April 26.

With gratitude,

Cindy, Dan, Becca, Eric, Kim, Julie, Matt, Grayson, Tess, Jenevieve, and Lennon
