Dear friends at Anderson, 

My name is Teresa Tang and I am a current first year FTMBA at Anderson. A lot of you may not know this, but my father passed away last year in October after a year of valiant battle with Pancreatic Cancer. I had just got to Anderson then, and was in the thick of Investment Banking recruitment. I decided to attend classes and recruit remotely, and spend whatever time left I had with him. It was the best decision I made, but it was also incredibly heartbreaking for me to see my father, the most intelligent, optimistic and funny person I know, wither in the illness.

Pancreatic Cancer is the WORST CANCER with a measly 12% five year survival rate, the lowest of all cancers. For comparison, the average five year survival rate for all cancers is 54%. A 12% survival rate is simply UNACCEPTABLE.

UCLA Anderson prides itself in thinking in the next. Today, I'd like to invite you to join the UCLA Anderson Team for PurpleStride, and do what we can to give pancreatic cancer patients and families a brighter future. 

Your support and donations will go to offering free patient support and resources through PanCAN patient support services, where patients and caregivers receive outcome-changing advice and guidance to navigate this gnarly disease, free molecular testing and personalized treatment recommendations for targeted therapies, and funding for pancreatic cancer research at UCLA Health.
