​Hi Everyone!

It is that time of year again when we show our support for those whose lives have been affected by pancreatic cancer and participate in the PanCan Walk 2025.

There was a time when I never thought that my life would be affected by cancer.  That is until my dad, Robert (Bob), was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2021.  My dad was a very strong, brave and courageous man who loved and cared for his family, especially his grandkids, very much.  I will never forget the day when I got a call from my dad telling me that he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  I do not think any of us wanted to believe it but we knew he was going to do whatever he needed to in order to fight to overcome this cancer.  And that is exactly what he did until his body no longer allowed him to and he lost that tremendous fight in October 2021.  There is not a day that goes by that I do not think about him and we all miss him every day.  His life mattered and should not be forgotten and everyone who knew him would agree.  

One way we choose to remember my dad and the fight he fought is by participating in the PanCan Walk.  This organization brings many people together whose lives have been affected by pancreatic cancer and through donations allow continued research and support for those still fighting or even not yet diagnosed to have an even better chance at living and surviving. We not only walk in honor of my dad and his fight, but we also walk for my dear friend and coworker, Lindsay, who sadly lost her fight in August 2023.  She was a loving friend and mother to 2 young girls who witnessed her strength and bravery during her fight.  We walk for all of our loved ones who were taken from us way too soon, including my cousin who lost her father in 2024. 

Whether you choose to donate, no matter the amount, or join us on the walk, all of your support means the world to us, and we greatly appreciate and thank all of you! Even though my dad is no longer with us, I know that he is still in our hearts and would be proud of all the work being done to help others with pancreatic cancer.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
