It is that time of the year again! The Kansas City Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s PurpleStride is scheduled for April 26th. This is the 15h year for the event having started in April of 2011. In 2011 Jurie was battling this dreaded disease but was able to come to Overland Park from Boston for the first ever KC PurpleStride. 

Most of you know Jurie's story that began in 2008 and ended in May of 2011.  If there is such a thing as being lucky she lived for 30 months between diagnosis and her passing on May, 30, 2011.  Since that time there is more awareness of this disease but I have lost friends to the disease.  So this is a way for us to remember Jurie and others who have lost their fight with Pan Can and to thank many/many individuals for their valiant effort to attack this deadly cancer and raise awareness as well as funds to continue the research needed to "Make a Difference".  

Did you know that more patients will die this year from pancreatic cancer than from breast cancer? It is estimated that more than 53,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States this year and approximately 91 percent of patients will die within five years of diagnosis. We can help change these statistics. General awareness for the disease is lacking in local communities across the country. By joining me at PurpleStride and making a donation you can combat this lack of awareness and help change the future for pancreatic cancer supporting efforts to double the survival for this deadly disease by 2020.  The survivor rate now stands at 11%!

The money we raise will advance research, support patients, and create hope for the pancreatic cancer community. We need your help so please do anything you can - join me or make a donation on my behalf. The goal is to double the survival rate for this deadly disease.
