Hey y’all!
Today I am reaching out to you all because I consider you a friend and you have had an impact on my life. For a long time, this topic held me in a dark place but 5 years ago I started sharing it with others and did not realize how important community is to work through hard times.
When I lived in New York, I had a friend encourage me to do this race and over the next three years I was supported by endless friends during this time on our war to end pancreatic cancer.
As some of you may or may not know, I lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer when I was 14 years old. A bit about my story, my Dad was diagnosed in September and passed away in December of the same year.
Pancreatic cancer currently has the highest mortality rate with 91% of patients dying within their first FIVE years of diagnosis and only 8% survive more than five years. Over the last 40 years, pancreatic cancer is one of the few to see any substantial improvement.
On April 26, 2025, the Pancreatic Action Network will be hosting its annual 5k Walk called PurpleStrides. So today I ask that you don’t think of me but rather about another young child, sibling, significant other, or parent that is hoping to never have to say goodbye. It would mean the world for you all to help me reach my goal for this year’s walk and getting one step closer to ending pancreatic cancer by donating here.
If you are in Atlanta, I would love for you to join me. The walk will be held at the Perimeter Mall and the opening ceremony is at 9:15AM (walk/run begins at 10AM). The registration fee will be put towards the final goal. Simply register by searching Team Mo on the site.
