My team and I are taking steps to end pancreatic cancer at PanCAN PurpleStride on Saturday, April 26, 2025...one day before what would have been John's 59th Birthday.
We are walking to honor the memory of my brother, John. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on May 4, 2020. John fought long and hard against this horrible disease. He endured chemo, treatments, transfusions, endless appointments and testing...all with great determination and a will to fight and survive. John survived 33 months, longer than many.
John's faith carried him through the difficult journey. John took extra care of our family, making sure we would all be "okay" if he was not around. Typical of him. He took the year of 2022 to travel, see family and truly enjoy life. It was a great blessing to see in the midst of his struggle. He made sure that anyone he encountered was asked about their relationship with Jesus Christ and he pointed them to Him. John knew this was of eternal value. It's hard to explain the loss of no longer having John in my life....there is a huge void. But I know I will see him again one day. I believe he would be excited to know our family & friends are honoring him in walking for a third year in PurpleStride.
