I was 21 at the time when my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic . I had no idea what was in store for her, me, or my family. Pancreatic cancer is a horrific disease, it’s aggressive, painful, and fast. Often by the time it’s detected it’s already quite advanced, and prognosis is poor.
My mother passed away August 26, 2005, six months after her diagnosis. It was a very hard path for me moving on in life without her. I chose to stay in this field to learn more about pancreatic cancer, and now I have the opportunity to work alongside interventional GI doctors.
Ive been involved with Pancan since 2008. Even made it to Washington DC to speak with congress. This organization has been family. I’ve met so many people along to way! I will never stop fighting
