In Loving Memory of Santos Francisco Rodriguez

Born September 28, 1936 – Puerto Rico

My father, Santos Francisco Rodriguez, was born in Puerto Rico and moved to New York at a young age, where he met the love of his life—my mother, Paula Rodriguez. Seeking a quieter and better life to raise a family, they moved to Paterson, NJ, where they raised four children: Michalle, Maritza, Pedro, and Brenda.

Our dad was more than just a father—he was a father figure to many of our neighbors, loved by many and respected by all. He always had a kind word, a helping hand, and a warm heart.

After retirement, Santos returned to his beloved island of Puerto Rico. There, he spent most of his time doing what he loved—fishing, crabbing, and playing dominoes with family and friends. It was a peaceful life he truly enjoyed.

On October 19, 2020, at the age of 84, our father became ill with pancreatic cancer. Sadly, by the time the doctors discovered it, it was already too late—the cancer had taken over his pancreas. He passed away just a week after being hospitalized, leaving us all in shock and heartbreak. We didn’t have enough time to say goodbye, and the pain of that still lingers deeply in our hearts.

Now, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren miss their grandpa dearly—the man who took them fishing at the edge of the ocean, or crabbing off the bridges. His presence is missed every single day.

We walk in his memory, and for the hope of a future where no other family has to go through the pain of losing a loved one so suddenly to this cruel disease. Thank you for your support.
