Hey, there!

Spring is here!  Trees are flowering, flowers are blooming, and signs of new life are everywhere.  I am blessed to see another beautiful spring in North Carolina.  It has been 4½ years since my Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis.  The average 5 year survival rate (13%) has not changed much since I have had my diagnosis.  I am hoping that I will continue to stay strong, beat the odds and see many more glorious springs.

The pancreas is located deep in the abdomen, so doctors usually cannot see or feel the tumor during a physical exam. Also, pancreatic cancer symptoms are not always obvious and usually develop over time.  Doctors may use several tests to make a diagnosis. But, there is no standard test to diagnose pancreatic cancer. This makes diagnosis even more complicated.  The best chance for survival is early detection, so listen to your body and see your physician with concerns.

All of us can help increase the survival rate by supporting PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) and the annual PurpleStride walk on Saturday, April 26, 2025.  My Team, Paradise Harbor, will be attending the walk once again.  Every dollar we raise will help create a world where everyone affected by pancreatic cancer will thrive.

PanCan.org is an organization that supports Pancreatic Cancer patients with information and helps them move through their journey.  They also provide resources to related Clinical Trials and research.
