Friends and Family,
Today, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and an urgent request. As many of you know, pancreatic cancer has already taken someone I love and now my dad is facing this cruel disease again and ready to kick its ass once again! It’s an incredibly difficult journey and knowing that our fight is now even harder makes it feel overwhelming.
Recently, I learned that the Department of Defense has completely cut its funding for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program. Last year, they allocated $15 million toward research aimed at better treatment options and hopefully a cure. Now, in Fiscal Year 2025, they are providing $0. To say I am devastated is an understatement. The reality is that if we want to continue pushing for advancements, we cannot rely on government support, we need to step up ourselves.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of so many of you, I was able to raise $2,111, surpassing my goal of $2,000. This year, I am setting a goal of $5,000. It feels ambitious but given the circumstances, it’s necessary. Every single dollar helps. When I say that, I truly mean it, even $1 is more than the $0 currently coming from the government.
I’m asking you, from the bottom of my heart, to consider donating if you can. If a donation isn’t possible, please consider sharing this message, posting on social media, talk to your friends/family, etc... The more awareness we create, the more support we can gather.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and deadly forms of cancer and every bit of help matters.
Thank you for standing with me, my Dad, my Uncle, my family and all those battling this relentless disease. Together, we can keep fighting for better treatments, more hope, and a future where no one has to endure this heartbreak.
With sincere gratitude,
Heidi Eichinger
