​In 2022 my Aunt Pat got diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I never knew about it or heard of pancreatic cancer before. Due to her diagnosis this truly opened our eyes the whole family jumped in to learn, understand, listen and do everything to help.

She was a mother to 4 boys with an amazing wife. We celebrated every holiday and event like it was the last. We made memories, laughed and made every day amazing. 

She was a fighter, she was fierce and strong. She went through chemo and radiation like a trooper even though we knew she was hurting and struggling. Unfortunately aggressive chemo was not an option due to age.

The doctor gave us/her limited time yet she surpassed it all. She went on trips and visits to her 4 boys in various states and they came to her many times a year. 

Unfortunately in December of 2023 everything took a turn, which we knew would happen one day. She passed away at home peacefully with her wife and some family around. 

She was the light in the room and the best hugger. She is truly missed but never ever forgotten.

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

PurpleStride participants raise money to fund vital research that can bring new treatment options to patients; free, personalized, one-to-one support through PanCAN Patient Services; and more.
