TEAM CASEY IS BACK ! Woooo
For anyone new here, Casey died after a heroic battle with stage four pancreatic cancer. He was a brilliant engineer & musician. A gifted & irreplaceable person, they simply don’t make them like him. We suffered a catastrophic loss when we lost Casey.
Casey presented with minor lower back pain and was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and given a life expectancy of a few months at the age of 40.
He was fit healthy, non-smoker, with no family history of pancreatic cancer.
He checked zero boxes that we are told are the precursors of this diagnosis. Because Casey was diagnosed at Stage 4, options for treatment were quite limited as he was not a candidate for the Whipple surgery.. he did complete endless chemo treatments that were absolutely grueling and provided no benefit. He was entered into several clinical trials, which were terribly invasive and painful, and also yielded no tumor recession or quality of life gain.
Casey died in a manner that no one should have to die; painful and heartbreaking.
We walk, donate, and ask for donations because the idea of this happening to one of our loved ones, one of our coworkers or even that stranger sitting next to us is too much to bear and we will do everything we can for better outcomes for all humans suffering from the most sinister cancer.
Purple Stride meant so very much to Casey (and me) and it was absolutely an event he wanted to have continued in his memory.
This fight must continue regardless of our grief & we can never get complacent !
We still need your support, now more than ever!
With our Love and gratitude,
Michelle and Casey forever
