We are walking in memory of Rob Burger. Our team started participating in PurpleStride in 2019 at Virginia Beach, with everyone coming together to show their support and love, and we have continued to "PurpleStride" every year since. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, primarily due to the lack of effective early-detection. This is the biggest fundraising event for pancreatic cancer, helping to raise awareness and fund additional research.

When Rob Burger was diagnosed the 5-year survival rate was only 9% and now, thanks to everyone's help, it has reached 13%. For Rob, what started off as long term back pain, ended up being a trip to the ER and being diagnosed as pancreatic cancer. The next ten months were spent pushing through chemotherapy and radiation, prepping for and receiving surgeries, and meeting with specialists at Johns Hopkins. In November, Rob Burger returned home from his final surgery being tumor-free!

Unfortunately, he was readmitted to the hospital in early January 2020 due to an infection and was once again transferred back to Hopkins for expert care. Doctors discovered the previous surgery was unsuccessful in removing the entire tumor and that the cancer had spread to other organs. In late January, Rob Burger returned home to be with his family and friends.
