My Story:

From the day I found out my grandmother had pancreatic cancer, inside I was heartbroken and without words. I had already lost two people in my life to pancreatic cancer but no one as close as my grandmother. I ran away from the fact she was dying. Didn't call her or return her calls. However, when I was told she didn't have much longer, I jumped on a plane and flew up to see her. It was hard for me to see her in the condition she was in. She was in a chair with no motivation or energy to get up. I sat by her side and spent time with her the first night I was there. She was so happy to see me. The next day she seemed to lighten up with energy to the point she wanted to sit at the table and play cards with us. (Photo above) When I had to leave to catch my flight back, it was hard for me to leave because my mother was crying and thanking me for coming because I put the last spark into my grandmother life before she passed away. To this day, just the memories bring up a lot of emotion. So I am participating in this charity walk/run in honor of my grandmother and the two other people that were close to me in my life.
