DIY Fundraising for
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
My family walks to honor the memory and legacy of our loved one: Caj Lamonte Scott; a beloved son, brother, father, uncle, husband, and friend; and for others who have lost their fight.
Black/African Americans have the highest incidence rate of pancreatic cancer of all ethnic/racial groups in the United States. The exact reason for higher incidence among Black Americans is unknown, but it’s important to be aware that we can change that reality, both by advocating for earlier diagnosis when there are more treatment options and by increasing the diversity of patients enrolled in clinical trials, so that new medicines and treatments are best suited to treat all patients with pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers and has the lowest five-year survival rate at just 13%. Patients with pancreatic cancer typically experience vague symptoms, which could also be confused with many other abdominal or gastrointestinal issues. This disease is the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. By 2030, estimates show that pancreatic cancer will rise to the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths. In 2024, an estimated 66,440 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and 51,750 will die from the disease.
With your support, we’re taking bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer.
Please make a gift of any size to get my team one step closer to my fundraising goal and help PanCAN to create a world in which all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive.
We are grateful for your generous support.
