With your support, we are helping to take bold action to improve the lives of everyone impacted by pancreatic cancer.  One of our own young women, Georgi Moody, #14 Senior, has been personally impacted by pancreatic cancer and wanted to share her story...

In January 2022, my family friend and father figure, Danny Lee, received life-altering news: a diagnosis of Stage 4 Invasive Adenocarcinoma affecting his pancreas and stomach. We were shocked, but our commitment to support him in this fight was unwavering. Danny, leaning on his faith, would often say, “Keep the faith. God is in charge, and He knows our hearts.” That faith gave him strength as he began chemotherapy, radiation, and regular scans.

At the end of August, we received hopeful news: Danny was eligible for surgery to remove the cancerous sections of his stomach and pancreas. On September 22, 2022, Danny was declared cancer-free. Our relief and joy were indescribable, yet we knew the road ahead could hold new challenges.

A short time later, as Danny awaited the results of a new scan, he learned that his cancer had returned—this time, more aggressive and spreading throughout his body. After thoughtful reflection and many conversations, Danny decided to end treatment and let God guide him from there. Surrounded by his family, he passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022.

Danny took greatest pride in being the father of his five beautiful children: Jenny, Lauren, Ethan, Sophie, and Sam. He was a joyful spirit, a jokester, and a welcoming presence to everyone he met. For Sophie and me, best friends since kindergarten, Danny was a constant in our lives. His warmth made me feel like family whenever I was around, and his friendship with my father, Greg Moody, who had been his high school teammate and friend, deepened that bond.

Danny was also a devoted supporter of our volleyball team, especially during our state championship season. His voice filled the stands, cheering us on as if we were all his daughters. I remember watching our state run replay on his TV, Danny narrating every play with a proud smile. That pride and support meant the world to us.

Throughout his battle with cancer, Danny reminded everyone to "keep the faith." His memory lives on through that message, inspiring us to continue the fight against pancreatic cancer in his honor.

Pancreatic cancer has affected so many lives and families. This month we raise awareness not only for Danny and his family, but the many lives and families affected by this disease everyday. We stand with you! Please consider making a gift of any size to help PanCAN create a world in which all patients with pancreatic cancer will thrive. AUVB is grateful for your generous support!!!
