As many of you know, we lost our beloved matriarch, Patty Ballman, to pancreatic cancer on July 16, 2023 at age 64. She was diagnosed in October 2022 and was cared for by an amazing team of oncology providers throughout her fight. 

Pancreatic cancer has a very low 5-year survival rate compared to other solid tumor cancers, currently 13%. It is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the United States, mostly due to late detection and lack of early screening methods. To date, there are limited treatment options for individuals with pancreatic cancer that are not candidates for surgical resection. Ongoing and future research is needed to expand treatment options and increase survival rate, affording patients more precious time to enjoy life with their families and loved ones.

Our hope is that by fundraising and increasing pancreatic cancer awareness, we can continue to support and provide hope for patients and families in the PanCAN community.

We’re taking steps at the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer, PanCAN PurpleStride, on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in Cleveland, OH.
