Our team wants to make the biggest impact on the lives of pancreatic cancer patients – and we need you to do it!

My family and I have been active volunteers and advocates in the PanCAN community ever since my healthy husband, Jim, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in April 2008, 10 days after his 47th birthday.  He was gone in just 6 months.  We have been to Advocacy Day in DC 5 times, including the 3 years that preceded the passage of the Recalcitrant Cancer Research Act in 2013.  My girls were just 10 & 11 y.o. when they were storming Capitol Hill, educating members of Congress on the urgency for action on this bill.

As Team Takacs, we were the #1 fundraising team at Boston’s inaugural PurpleStride in 2011.  We changed our name to Imagineers United in 2013 as we had so many team members who also were walking for loved ones and who raised a lot of money for the team – some as much as we did.  Our new name reflected not only how our team was united in this mission, but it was also an acknowledgement to another pioneer in this movement, Randy Pausch (author of The Last Lecture).

As Imagineers United, we maintained our #1 fundraising team status over the next 3 years raising over $28,000 for PS Boston 2014.  While we have lost donors over the years, we have many who continue support our mission and help us raise as much as we can so that lifesaving funds can be given to the dedicated researchers working tirelessly to find an early detection method & increase treatment options, which will both give patients a better chance of survival.  As federal funding for cancer research is in serious jeopardy, it is more important now than ever before to be able to support these research efforts.
