Hey, thanks for supporting our team! This cause is super important and very close to the hearts on this team, so thanks for being here.
As you probably know, last August we lost my dad to pancreatic cancer. Our family did everything we could to support and care for him, especially my amazing mom who spent the entire last year of dads life making sure he had the best doctors, care, and quality of life that he could.
When my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer it was already late stage and too far metastasized to cure. He fought hard for almost a whole year to be here with us, but in the end the disease was irremediable.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the hardest to detect, and one of the most brutal to endure. PanCAN is investing in scientific research that can help with early detection and clinical trials that can improve treatments. We named our team “Dad and Fred Hutch” because we know how critical the work of the doctors and nurses that cared for my dad was to keeping him alive for so long, and making him as comfortable as possible. My dad was participating in a clinical trial when he died, and although it couldn’t save him, we know how much it helped him and the ways it can help others who suffer from this disease. My family lost someone so special to us, and we want to help PanCAN help researchers and oncologists so that other families might not.
On April 25th our team will be walking in PanCAN's PurpleStride! We set a fundraising goal of 3k and we need your help to meet it. If you feel able to donate, give a buck! If you feel like walking with us, join our team! We'd love to have you.
So many of you have supported our family this past year in ways for which we'll never be able to adequately thank you. We want to help other families so that they may never know the pain of losing someone the way we did. Help us end this thing!
