I was diagnosed with stage 3 adenocarcinoma pancreatic cancer in 2016.

My first Purple Stride was in 2017 just four weeks after a Whipple surgery.

When the pancreatic cancer returned in 2020, I started a Phase 2 clinical trial at Providence St. Vincent.

When the pancreatic cancer returned in 2022, I started a new Phase 2 clinical trial.

When the pancreatic cancer returned in 2025, I started a new Phase 1 clinical trial.

The drugs in these trials did not exist in 2016, and these trials would not exist without the efforts of PanCan to promote research for pancreatic cancer.

Team Julie is striding to wage hope for pancreatic cancer survivors - even when the cancer returns after years of no evidence of disease.

Local action. Nationwide impact. This is PanCAN PurpleStride, the ultimate walk to end pancreatic cancer.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.

PurpleStride is PanCAN’s biggest community event of the year, raising money to fight pancreatic cancer on all fronts — through research, clinical initiatives, patient services, advocacy and nationwide volunteer support. Learn more.
