In Honor of Steve Jensen

In October of 2021 my dad was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. He was given perhaps 12-18 months to live with constant, grueling chemotherapy.  My dad endured two different lines of systemic chemotherapy and then participated in a clinical trial. My dad beat the odds and survived 22 months before a series of strokes ended his fight on August 8, 2023. He was an inspiration during this time, a beacon of hope and optimism, refusing to stop fighting to live and making the most of the days he had. 


Pancreatic cancer is so deadly for two main reasons: (1) it is often detected very late and (2) there are very few approved treatment options and none of them are targeted. Raising awareness about early detection and increasing funding for pancreatic cancer research will help us reduce the deadliness of this awful cancer. 

PanCAN has been an invaluable resource for me and my family during my dad's illness.  PanCAN is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world in which all pancreatic cancer patients thrive.  Kindly help me support this amazing organization on April 27.  The money raised during PanCAN’s PurpleStride walk not only helps PanCAN continue supporting pancreatic cancer patients and their families, it also funds groundbreaking research into early detection of pancreatic cancer and clinical trials.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at nearly 60 events across the country, pancreatic cancer survivors, families, caregivers, researchers and supporters will join together and walk to honor everyone affected by the disease.
