Hi everyone,

Today I am honoring my mother Suzanne Kranjac McIntosh on her third birthday since passing away from pancreatic cancer by registering for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) PurpleStride on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

Please help me raise funds for pancreatic cancer research and patient support services!

Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer-related death in both men and women in the US. The vast majority of people do not know that they have pancreatic cancer until it is in its late stages, where less than 5 percent of patients will survive for 5 years. Like my mother, many of these people only live months after their diagnosis. 

While leaps and bounds have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of many types of cancer in recent decades, we still don't have an effective screening test for pancreatic cancer and the high tech immunotherapies being used with incredible results in other cancers have thus far not been as effective for patients with pancreatic cancer. Simply put, it is a disease where progress is desperately needed. As a scientist, I understand so clearly that progress takes research and research takes money. PanCAN PurpleStride is the number one way PanCAN raises money to fund that vital research.

PanCAN also provides support for patients and their families and conducts advocacy work on their behalf. The organization has an A rating from CharityWatch so you know your donation will be put to good use and not lining the pockets of their executives.
