Wage Hope to end pancreatic cancer
PANCREATIC CANCER IS ONE OF THE DEADLIEST CANCERS
Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd leading cause of cancer death in the United States, surpassing breast cancer in 2019, and it is projected to surpass colorectal cancer to become the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States in 2030.
It is estimated that in 2019, 56,770 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and 45,750 will succumb to this metastatic disease. 75% of all patients will die within the first year of the initial diagnosis.
Pancreatic cancer is the only major cancer with a five-year relative survival rate in the single digits, at 9% percent.
African-Americans have the highest incidence rate of pancreatic cancer, between 28 percent and 59 percent higher than the incidence rates for other racial/ethnic groups.
