Welcome to our team fundraising page!

Rick Martin was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in July 2017.  Bob Zimmerman was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in January 2019.  Rick and Bob are first cousins and while the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer affected these two cousins, they never diminished their smiles.  Bob passed away too quickly after learning he had pancreatic cancer...within days.  Rick began a journey of chemo, radiation, surgery, more chemo and was pancreatic cancer free in October 2018.  However, in March 2019, Rick learned that the pancreatic cancer had returned and although he kept his boxing gloves on for as long as he could, Rick passed away in September 2020.

As a family of smiling cousins, we will not let this set back diminish our hope that with our ongoing fundraising efforts, we will help fund research that will lead to early detection tests becoming available.  We will continue to honor Rick & Bob's memories through our advocacy of showing how important research is for all affected by cancer.

Rick's daughter, Rebecca and Bob's daughter, Amy are co-captains for this team and are looking forward to raising critical and necessary funds to support research.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all major cancers, at just 12%. This deadly disease has stolen our best and our brightest, but it can’t take away our determination.

Our team has stepped up to Wage Hope at PurpleStride, the walk to end pancreatic cancer. Will you help us rewrite the future of this disease by making a donation today?

Every dollar that you donate ensures that the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network can continue working to create better outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients and their families. By donating to our team, you are supporting vital efforts to double pancreatic cancer survival by 2024.
