Karen was an amazing soul and lived her life to the fullest each day. One of her great passions as a parent was softball. She spent much of her life at the softball field watching her daughters, Arianna and Christa, play as her husband, Dave, would coach them. She served on the board of OVP/ OCGSL as treasurer, was a coach, volunteered as scorekeeper and field day helper, worked in the snack bar, and was the best cheerleader for which any athlete could hope.

Karen was a beloved little sister to her older siblings Ellen and Mike, an ultimately supportive aunt, and the irreplaceable Tante Kerke to Hadley, Kieran and Rowan, the youngest generation of the family. Her care for the memories and traditions of her family’s past, her energy and excitement for the future, and ability to live in the present were magnetic, and made her the true center of her family.

She cherished the bustle of the holidays when her house was full of people (and dogs.) Traveling was another major source of joy and passion for Karen. She researched and planned her vacations with attention and care and loved to go on cruises to the Caribbean with her family and friends. But there is perhaps nothing she loved more than seeing the world with Dave at her side. She loved Dave unreservedly; he was the “Jack to her Sally” for 32 years of marriage. They spent wonderful weekend adventures together exploring new beaches, tasting new wines, and making memories. They celebrated each other’s company always, even if the adventure of the day was a walk around the yard. Karen was grateful to have lived a full life. She successfully battled pancreatic cancer for 2 years with her fighting spirit and strong will. She will live on in the hearts and memories of those who were lucky to know her.
